Panoramic radiography also called panoramic x-ray, is a two-dimensional (2-D) dental x-ray examination that uses a very small dose of ionizing radiation that captures the entire mouth in a single image. It consists of a rotating arm that holds the X-ray generator, and a moving film attachment that holds the pictures. They are safer than other types of X-rays because less radiation enters the body.
