The PICU is the unit that provides sick children with the highest level of medical care. Kids in PICU might include those with severe breathing problems from asthma, serious infections, certain heart conditions, some complications of diabetes, or those involved in a critical automobile accident or near-drowning incident. These kids are under the care and close supervision of trained and experienced nurses and highly skilled doctors. Instead of the child’s future wellness and recovery, parents and kids should anticipate the following measures should they be deemed necessary: attachment of Intravenous Catheter (IV) for fluids and medications, administering of medicines, continuous monitoring, run of tests, and connection to ventilators/breathing machine.
The hospital PICU is mainly composed of the following:
- 3 Treatment beds
- Isolation Room
